Best of the Wendell Crowley Pedigree

This collection is named after Wendell Crowley, who was Fawcett Publication?s general editor for comics from 1944 to 1950. During this period, Mr. Crowley would keep one to three copies of every Fawcett comic published. Many were used for reference and many remained virtually untouched until many years after his passing, when his family decided that it was finally time to unveil his marvelous collection to the collecting world.

Virtually all the comics that I selected to purchase from the Wendell Crowley collection are far and away the finest that CGC has certified to date, in most cases even eclipsing the quality of the same issues from other famous pedigreed collections such as the "Mile High", "Rockford" and "Pennsylvania" collections. I hand-selected what I considered to be the "Top 300" books from the collection that consisted of over 5000 pieces. Even more amazing than simply the fact that they are the highest certified copies, is the relative scarcity of many of the issues that I chose. Many are so scarce, that 26% of the entire group does not even appear in the famous Gerber Photo-Journal Guides to Comic Books. Most have incredible cover reflectivity, tight spines and sharp corners.

After viewing the selection briefly, it will become evident to you that I also chose the best covers from each run that were available in high grade AND had the best paper quality. Unfortunately, many of the other books from the collection did not age as well, so I was careful to select as many of the best books that also had off-white or better pages.
