Babe Comes Home
First National - 1927
Very Fine

American Insert 14" x 36"

The enormity of Babe Ruth's popularity was such that no commercial arena was unconquerable, including that of feature films. He most often appeared as himself in leading roles, as was the case in the 1921 picture "Headin' Home" and other films, such as Harold Lloyd's "Speedy" in 1928 and "the Pride of the Yankees" in 1942 found him in cameos. Regardless, when it came to promoting any film associated with the great 'Bambino', studios ensured that their drawing card always took center stage. This insert poster, produced for the 1927 film "Babe Comes Home" was no exception. One of only three known examples, it features a large foreground photographic image of Ruth in a classic batting stance. The condition is Very Fine with vibrant colors. For the purposes of long-term conservation, it has been professionally mounted on archival paper, with moderate restoration to borders and background. The considerable appeal of this poster is further enhanced by the fact that its release coincided with the greatest season in Yankees history, in which Ruth established a new single season home run record. This is a rare opportunity to own, not only a piece of sports history, but of film history as well!
