Ronald Reagan, in one of his best performances, plays real life baseball pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander. "Alex the Great" has some success, but has to fight epilepsy (even though the word is never used in the film). With the help of his wife (Doris Day) and fellow player Rogers Hornsby (Frank Lovejoy), he overcomes the disease and leads his team to the World Series. A beautiful example, with a delightful image of Reagan and Day about to kiss.
