This pedigreed copy of Captain America Comics #1 (from the Kansas City pedigreed comic book collection) is the 3rd best copy extant, of one of the best-known and most desireable comic books of all time! In fact, only two unrestored copies have been certified higher by CGC, and both are deeply entrenched in advanced collections, neither of which are likely to be offered anytime soon. Of course by virtue of having the ORIGIN & 1st APPEARANCE of CAPTAIN AMERICA, the RED SKULL and Cap's sidekick BUCKY BARNES this comic would be considered significant no-matter what, but the icing on the cake is the CLASSIC COVER with Cap smashing Hitler's face by the characters' co-creators JOE SIMON and JACK KIRBY! Of all the KEY GOLDEN-AGE #1 issues, this is the only one to premiere a brand-new character in a comic book devoted to him! That shows the confidence that the Timely publishers had in the character, and that confidence was justified, as it catipulted Timely Publishing into the Top Rank of comic book publishers. This stellar example has wonderful cover colors, giving it tremendous eye appeal. Structurally this comic is a Near Mint- with square corners, nice edges and tight spine. There is some rust on the staples that discounted a few points, keeping if from a 9.2 grade. Back cover is exceptional for the issue and the book itself has no major flaws, whatsoever. Truly a spectacular offering!
