Snow White Phenominal Armour Ham Standee
1937
Fine / Very Fine

To promote their already famous product, Armour and Company chose the equally famous characters from that year's Disney feature film release as their spokesperson's, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow is pictured smiling brightly, while the boys all mill about, admiring their ham feast to come. Each of the dwarfs is also smiling, and the ham looks so good that Grumpy has even lost his scowl! The quality of this standee is unquestionable, as it is not only quite large and quite colorful, it is quite heavy as well! It stands 43" high, is 35" wide, and is made of thick and solid cardboard that is more than a quarter of an inch in thickness. Obviously, the folks at Armour felt that a quality ham deserved a quality advertising display. Not only is this a Disney display piece of exceptional quality, it is an interesting piece of Black Americana, as well, for the Armour chef at the top smiles warmly as he delivers the company tag line of the time "The Ham What Am". The condition of the standee is without peer, for aside from a few small chips along the bottom, and two thin cracks toward the end of Doc's hat (both easily repairable), it appears to be almost totally without blemish. There was some minor professional airbrush work done at the bottom edge that cosmetically enhanced the overall eye appeal even more. Even the heavy backstand is flawless. It is obvious that Armour built this one to last.
