1960 Post Cereal Mickey Mantle
Post Cereal 1960
Card #
None MINT 9

Several generations of young Americans have spent much of their childhood in preoccupation with the backs of cereal boxes. The box-back surface has been employed extensively by manufacturers for decades, as a means to delight and captivate young audiences with pictures, offers and premiums. The debut of Post Grape-Nuts Flakes in 1960, was the means for the introduction of one of the concepts' flagships, the glorious Post "Sports Stars". Presented here is an absolutely superb example of the best card of the entire series, the card sporting the likeness of none other than Mickey "The Mick" Mantle. Thus neatly cut box panel features the spectacular card which measures 7" X 8-3/4" of the overall 10" x 10-1/2" panel (also has descriptive end panel still attached, which gives bio info on Mickey, such as that he had a batting average of .314 lifetime for 8 years at that point in his career (these descriptives panels were almost always cut away from the card of the "Sports Star"). Pretty cool! This is certainly one of the, if not THE VERY FINEST 1960 Post Cereal Mickey Mantle in the world!
